Troy

Hi. My name is Troy Holden and I am a San Francisco photographer. I have been making photos while walking the streets of the City since 2008. My snapshots focus on America’s dream metropolis — in all of its splendor and variety; filth and loneliness. My photoblog is troyholden.com. You can contact me at @thdc on Twitter.

Cherry Pie

Camera+ & Diptic. There are so many mint condition classic cars in the Bay Area. A perfect subject for mobile photography, IMO.

This was shot in the harsh mid-day sun. The metering and exposure is pretty impressive when you consider how a DSLR might react (blownout/underexposed).

Brian, Bruce, & Tim

Seen off Columbus Ave. in North Beach. I rarely shoot graffiti straight-on these days, but this particular piece is hard to frame/pano in one shot because it sits on a pointed corner and is blocked by a tree, 2 poles, and a parking meter.

Shot in default factory iPhone 3GS camera, color pops in Camera+, tiling in Collagraphy, once through WordPhoto, and a triptych in Diptic.

Elvis Patel

Elvis Patel by Troy HoldenSeen on the corner of Geary and Larkin twice in the same week.

I used the King Camera and Squaready apps to make this photo. Elvis gave me his mailing address, so I sent a Postagram to the hotel he stays at earlier this afternoon. Next time we cross paths, I’ll ask him how he liked the postcard.

Dirty Looks

Dirty Looks by Troy Holden

Lilac Alley in the Mission district.

I used Diptic to make the original frame and then processed it through WordFoto using a ‘.’ (period) as the word to create a faux Percolator look.

Watering The Plants

Seen early this morning in Bernal Heights while waiting for the bus, a neighbor waters her plants.

Mobile photography has quickly become one of my favorite ways to make photos. I think it’s the imperfect nature of the images compared to those made on a DSLR. It’s also fun to share images with friends, instantly, while on the go.

I used Camera+ and the PictureShow app to make the above photo.
