Crosswalks and Cigarettes; Playing around with the Stripemelt process

Smoking.

For today’s appsperiment I wanted to try to emphasize a certain area of an image by using a combination of StripeCam and Interlacer. The end result is sort of a “drippy” focal effect that I call Stripemelting.

In case anyone was interested in more of a breakdown in today's #appsperiment, here you can see some of the #stripecam images before and after #interlacer

I started with some moody Hipstamatic shots, that I then ran through StripeCam multiple times. I kept the stripes on a horizontal plane, while adjusting their vertical starting positions. I then took the StripeCam images and layered them together in Interlacer.

Daily App Experiment #293: "Crosswalks & Conversations"

Here’s another example of this effect, but this time I did some stripes going left to right, and others going right to left, thus giving the effect on either side of the focal area.

About DocPop

It all started with games.. During his daily ride on SF BART, Doctor Popular would constantly drain his new iPhone's battery playing Field Runners, but this app obsession soon spread from games to music. Using apps like Nanoloop and Thumbjam, Doc created an an entire album with his iPhone. He was also one of the first street musicians to perform with an iPad. Now Doc spends most of his spare time creating photography and visual art with his iPhone. Currently he is working on The Daily App Experiment, a year long collection of experimental art, and a book collecting his "appsperiments".
