Testing out the iPhone 4S cam

Anna, Pista, and a Blue Bottle

After waiting in line overnight at the SF Apple Store for my new iPhone, I was anxious to take some shots with it. The shot above is unprocessed, other than cropping within the Photos app, and gives an idea of the sharper image and improved depth of field on the camera.

Another unprocessed shot taken in a nearby alley.

Unprocessed low light

Here’s an unprocessed low-light shot. Though it’s grainy, it’s still far better than low light shots on my iPhone 4.

Mural making

Finally a shot with a little bit of tweaking in Camera+. It’s interesting how many of my old app “tricks” no longer work. For instance, using Clarity tends to blow out my shots with a cartoony HDR look now, so I’m switching back to using Camera+’s “auto” setting in stead of Clarity.

About DocPop

It all started with games.. During his daily ride on SF BART, Doctor Popular would constantly drain his new iPhone's battery playing Field Runners, but this app obsession soon spread from games to music. Using apps like Nanoloop and Thumbjam, Doc created an an entire album with his iPhone. He was also one of the first street musicians to perform with an iPad. Now Doc spends most of his spare time creating photography and visual art with his iPhone. Currently he is working on The Daily App Experiment, a year long collection of experimental art, and a book collecting his "appsperiments".
