Daily App Experiment #309 "Mayhem"

Today’s Appsperiment was created by running three slightly different versions of the same photo through DXP’s “difference” filter, which combined the similar features of each photo while letting the areas with different colors remain.

The photo is a picture of Mark, the owner of Dr. Teeth And The Electric Mayhem, which I shot with the regular Camera app in very low light. I then used Noir to create three different versions of this image. Each version had different vignetting, contrast, and hue colors (ie, one blue, one green, one brown). I then took these Noir images and layered them in DXP using “Difference”. When layering the first two images, I got something that looks like a negative image, but when layering the third image I was left with the final image which really emphasizes certain parts of each of the 3 original images.

About DocPop

It all started with games.. During his daily ride on SF BART, Doctor Popular would constantly drain his new iPhone's battery playing Field Runners, but this app obsession soon spread from games to music. Using apps like Nanoloop and Thumbjam, Doc created an an entire album with his iPhone. He was also one of the first street musicians to perform with an iPad. Now Doc spends most of his spare time creating photography and visual art with his iPhone. Currently he is working on The Daily App Experiment, a year long collection of experimental art, and a book collecting his "appsperiments".
