Lecture

Embarcedero Center in San Francisco is full of interesting lines and geometric patterns. Every time I walk through the buildings I find something new to shoot, or a new way to shoot a familiar area.

This image was made with Hipstamatic using the excellent Olloclip fisheye lens.

SnapDotShot

SnapDot

Messing around with the SnapDot app for iOS. It’s well designed, with cool animation UI tweaks, but at 638X639 pxls wide, it’s just too damn low res. Hoping they fix this in an update soon.

Sunday Streets through a smart phone

Coming to a stop.

I love Sunday Streets, the semi-frequent city event that opens up large chunks of Valencia and 24th streets to walking traffic. I never set out to “document” the event, but after a few hours of walking through the friendly crowd of families, artists, and whatevers, it’s hard not to leave with a few decent photos. Can’t wait for the next one on July 1st.

“Different Perspectives On The Weather”

Different Perspectives On The Rain

Shot off of Market St on drizzly day. I had framed my shot and was simply waiting for these ladies to cross the road when this longboarder suddenly rolled into frame.

Steamed

steamed

Spotted this steamy little construction scene on Market St and started taking photos when this super-serious-bicyclist pulled right into my shot. By the way he was staring at me, he looked unhappy, but he just sat there sort of posing for me as I kept snapping away. Even the construction guy was wondering what was going on.

Winthrop and Winthrop’s Glasses

Winthrop & Winthrop's Glasses
I met Winthrop in Mint Plaza today during lunch. I asked about his glasses and he said told me that he couldn’t afford to get new frames, so he took his old lenses and crammed them into a cheap pair of frames from Walgreens. Sidenote: Winthrop totally reminds me of Steven Jesse Bernstein in this photo.

I’ll be posting my own black and white photos throughout the week and searching the Objective Scenes flickr group for b/w shots for the blog too.

Daily App Experiment #382 “Progress Never Stops”

Daily App Experiment 382 "Progress Never Stops"

Today’s appsperiment was shot in Clarion Alley with Lomora 2, then run through the fantastic Autopainter 2 app. I opened this painted version in Filterstorm and layered parts of the original photo (mostly the bicyclist) back on top as a focal point. As usual, I did a bunch of other tiny steps (in Camera+ and other apps), but I’m just focusing on the big steps.

Armani suit on Polk St

Armani suit on Post St.

A dapper dude I bumped into on Polk St. He asked if he could take my picture, then I asked if I could take his… his suit was way better than mine.

Shot with Lomorama 2, which I have a love/hate relationship with. You can’t turn off the flash, the UI appears to be missing a few buttons, and you can’t import photos (it’s a camera only app, like Hipstamatic)… but the filters are so incredibly good!

Mukendi

Daily App Experiment #304 "Mukendi

I used to bump into Mukendi a couple times a week while walking through SF. Those his close were often a little worn, he always seemed to have his own style going on. The few times we talked, we joked about being the two sharpest dressed fellas in the area. One day I saw Mukendi in the Mint Plaza and I asked if I could take his picture.
