Objective Scenes is a group blog dedicated to the art of mobile photography. The blog features regular contributions from Doc, Troy, Tyson, and Victoria, as well frequent guest contributors and photos submitted to our Flickr group. All pictures are shot and edited exclusively on mobile devices (iPhones, Android, etc).
We love seeing new work from our friends. If you’d like to submit work to the Objective Scenes blog, please add your image to our OS Flickr group. Remember, all photos must be shot and edited with an iPhone, Android device, Razr, or similar mobile device. Adding the device and apps used to your photos description is also a big help for us.
Our Photos:
Sutro via Corona
I had a fantastic hike to the top of Corona Heights yesterday, where I snapped this picture of Sutro Tower. I got a few more decent iPhone shots during the hike, check this Flickr set for more.

Time to reflect
I take my phone with me when I run. You know, in case of emergencies. In this case, a rare blue sky over Hong Kong, and a cool, reflective building. All of the following images were taken within 10 minutes of each other on a Saturday afternoon in North Point, when the light felt just right.
Operation escape the office: London edition
Did I mention I was in London recently? For real, dang! That’s me up there demonstrating the perfect Instagram technique. I spent most of the week working, but did manage to escape the office for a half-day with my partner in crime, Lilacina, also above, demonstrating a slightly more complex maneuver.

Sharp Dressed at 7th & Folsom
I bumped into this sharp dressed lady at the bus stop while she was waiting for the 24 to Marin. She complimented me on my suit and I complimented hers, so I asked if I could take her picture. When she asked where she should stand, I happened to notice a set of yellow footprints that had been painted on the ground, so I had her match up with those and used the light from neon “Oil Can Henry’s” sign to light the shot.

Advanced Technique
Spotted on Valencia St at 20th. Shot with basic camera app, then tweaked in Noir, PS Express, and Filterstorm.
Tiltshiftin’ in Thailand
This is Koh Samui, an island in southern Thailand, where I’ve been holed up in a ridiculously lavish resort the past 5 days. Don’t hate. I never do stuff like this.
Anyway, I left my SLR at home, which I regretted only once – when I was at the island’s highest peak and trying to capture the depth of Samui’s vast coconut orchards leading to a pristine beach. You won’t see that image here, because admittedly there are limitations to the iPhone4 camera – or perhaps I’m just not skilled enough. But I think I did alright. Leave a comment if you agree or disagree or just want to say hi. All pics taken with iPhone4 camera and edited in Filterstorm, Picfx and Snapseed, and sometimes all three. (Tiltshift added in Instagram app)

Commuter Love As The World Masses By.
As Critical Mass winds through the streets of SF, traffic typically comes to a halt. Some commuters may find themselves stuck at a light for 5-10 minutes as a parade of cyclists make their way from intersection to intersection. Most commuters just wait it out and enjoy the show, a few lay heavy on the horns and yelling, but last night I saw this adorable couple on a Vespa taking advantage of the time to kiss and enjoy each other.

Big Bird
Spotted at JFK International Airport. Shot on my iPhone 4S using my iPro fisheye lens and the amazing SynthCam app. Final editing in Camera+.
Sweet and Low-down
Shot at 3:30 pm in the 16th street BART Station on my iPhone 4S, with some additional adjustments in Camera+.
Testing out the iPhone 4S cam
After waiting in line overnight at the SF Apple Store for my new iPhone, I was anxious to take some shots with it. The shot above is unprocessed, other than cropping within the Photos app, and gives an idea of the sharper image and improved depth of field on the camera.

Chronically Filmed
On my to meet with Troy and Brandon yesterday I got sidetracked by this beautiful sunlight pouring down Ellis St. I decided to camp out in the shadow of a newspaper box and took these shots. I got a billion more in the Tenderloin last night, but the shots from this corner were my favorite.

Early Sunday Morning at Jim’s
Head to the back of Jim’s Restaurant and you may expect to see a small restroom area on the other side. Instead you’ll find some steps leading to this odd open area on the second floor. There is an an actual bathroom door along with many other padlocked doors, but the coolest thing up here are these tiled graffiti covered windows. I snapped this pic over the weekend without realizing I had taken a nearly identical picture back in May.
David Lynch’s Hong Kong
This is a tribute to David Lynch, who recently opened a nightclub in Paris. I have no idea if he’s ever been to Hong Kong, but I think he’s been influencing my Instagram feed lately.
I was looking through my iPhone photos and they’re all rather dark and gloomy. And maybe that’s because Hong Kong has been rather dark and gloomy.
Project Bandaloop rehearsing
I recently posted about this on the Postagram blog, but I thought I’d share it here too. I was lucky enough to catch some of Project Bandaloop‘s rehearsal in (/above) the Mint Plaza yesterday. I happened to have my 8X Telephoto lens from Photojojo with me, so I used it in most of these shots.
