“Rolling Stone” by Lindsey Thompson

A rolling stone ....

Lindsey Thompson was cool enough to breakdown the process for the well edited iPhone art above:

These were all handheld shots, this was similar to the last image you asked about, another Juxtaposer edit, the original image was the one with my boy sitting right at the top, and then cut-outs from 4 other different images taken as he rolled down the hill shortly after :-) yes, camera+ was just used for coloring effects, and think it also went through idarkroom at some point too! Hard to remember now, though there was a ton of touch retouch with this one also, I certainly haven’t forgotten that bit!

#instawalksj this weekend

Got the head’s up from Blake at Keepsy about an upcoming Instawalk in San Jose:

We had such a great time last weekend at both the San Francisco and Oakland #instawalks that we decided it’s time to do one in the South Bay.

Join us on Sunday 6/26 at San Jose City Hall at 1pm (corner of 4th and Santa Clara) for some photo fun and some after-shooting fun at a local TBD drinking establishment.

We’ll post updates as the date nears on this blog, as well as in our @keepsy Instagram feed.

Here’s the Meetup page for the event. If you guys get any great mobile pics, be sure to post ‘em to our Flickr group!

This Gold Thing?

Gold Ronin

Sometimes I’m surprised at how good a shot you can get by just resting your camera on a flat surface and taking a close up shot. This gorgeous gold plated yo-yo was a gift that ended up photographing extremely well. For this shot I just went on top of a parking garage and rested the yo-yo on a ledge. I used TrueHDR to take the shot, but no filters, tilt shift, or effects. The foreground objects just ended up natural distorting.

Pics from InstawalkSF through Chinatown

Street view

I had a great time at Saturday’s InstawalkSF through Chinatown. It was our biggest group yet, and might have been my favorite photowalk yet! Thanks to Photojojo for co-organizing the event and for bringing all those awesome mobile phone fisheye lenses for folks to use. I met a bunch of cool people and got some decent photos. I really dug meeting up at The Empress of China for drinks after the walk. That was a lucky find and I can’t wait to go back!

To keep up with future events, join our San Francisco Instawalk google group… and remember to upload your favorite mobile phone photos to our Objective Scenes flickr group. Here are some of my iPhone pics from the walk, click here for the full Flickr set:
