Lift Y’r Skinny Fists

Daily App Experiment #201: "Raise y'r skinny fists..."

“Lift Y’r Skinny Fists (Like Antennas to the Heavens)“, piece number 199 in my yearlong Daily App Experiment, captures Sutro Tower during the sunset. Although it has a very painted look, the piece was created with Camera+, Pic Smoother, and TrueHDR, with a few camera hacks along the way.

city hall wedding

city hall wedding
One of the things that we do in real life is shoot weddings. Yes, we’re that guy. We actually love being that guy. We’ve gone places, seen things, and made friends we otherwise never would have. And we count ourselves very lucky for all of it.

So today we combined a wedding with some iPhone appsperimentation, and here are the results.

“Rolling Stone” by Lindsey Thompson

A rolling stone ....

Lindsey Thompson was cool enough to breakdown the process for the well edited iPhone art above:

These were all handheld shots, this was similar to the last image you asked about, another Juxtaposer edit, the original image was the one with my boy sitting right at the top, and then cut-outs from 4 other different images taken as he rolled down the hill shortly after :-) yes, camera+ was just used for coloring effects, and think it also went through idarkroom at some point too! Hard to remember now, though there was a ton of touch retouch with this one also, I certainly haven’t forgotten that bit!

#instawalksj this weekend

Got the head’s up from Blake at Keepsy about an upcoming Instawalk in San Jose:

We had such a great time last weekend at both the San Francisco and Oakland #instawalks that we decided it’s time to do one in the South Bay.

Join us on Sunday 6/26 at San Jose City Hall at 1pm (corner of 4th and Santa Clara) for some photo fun and some after-shooting fun at a local TBD drinking establishment.

We’ll post updates as the date nears on this blog, as well as in our @keepsy Instagram feed.

Here’s the Meetup page for the event. If you guys get any great mobile pics, be sure to post ‘em to our Flickr group!

“Luna moth” by Cody Beltram

Luna moth

Cody Beltram took this fantastic macro shot with is iPhone 4. Describing his process he says:

Yes, I did use the Photojojo macro lens (love em!). I have a thin cheap plastic case that I put the lens magnetic ring on since the sticky doesn’t stick well to the iPhone 4 glass and covers the flash. As for apps, I believe I only used PhotoForge2. A great app. Also on the plastic case, I put a couple GorillaPod mobile mounts so I can use it on a tripod without gunking up the phone.
