Portrait Appsperiment #1: “Jeremy”

Daily App Experiment #268 "Jeremy"

This week I’ll be posting a series of portrait based appsperiments. Many of which were shot at an after-party in the Sincerely offices. Today’s portrait is of Jeremy Brooks.

Since Jeremy created the Interlacer app, I wanted to use it for his portrait. So I created a light and a dark version of his portrait and fed those into Interlacer. I then saved that interlaced result, and fed it back into Interlacer with the first two images. I kept “feedbacking” images into the app 5 times, then I saved that final image and imported it into Juxtaposer. As a final step, I added one of the original versions of the photo on top of the interlaced image to make it where his skin was unaffected by Interlacer. I also added a bit of the original texture back onto his clothes.

About DocPop

It all started with games.. During his daily ride on SF BART, Doctor Popular would constantly drain his new iPhone's battery playing Field Runners, but this app obsession soon spread from games to music. Using apps like Nanoloop and Thumbjam, Doc created an an entire album with his iPhone. He was also one of the first street musicians to perform with an iPad. Now Doc spends most of his spare time creating photography and visual art with his iPhone. Currently he is working on The Daily App Experiment, a year long collection of experimental art, and a book collecting his "appsperiments".

    Hey Doc…
Just wanted to pop in and say congrats on your mobile phone photography talk at Apple last week. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it, but I heard it was great!

    • DocPop says:

Hey Brad, thanks much! Hopefully we’ll bump into each other in the future.

Ha, yeah, no doubt our paths have crossed in the past! Also, thanks for coming to the TL-USA release party a few weeks ago and for buying a journal – Travis and I appreciate it!
